Get to Know Our Missionaries: The Carmichael Family, Trieste, Italy
As a church, it’s our privilege to partner with a church planting team in Trieste, Italy. Each family serves with Pioneers in Europe and are part of the Acts 29 church planting network.
The carmichael Family
Gary, Amy, Lydia, and Margo
Arriving in the spring of 2016 from North Carolina, we are the newest members of the Trieste team. God used Gary’s participation in a short-term mission to Trieste to help answer a question that had long been on our hearts and in our prayers, “How can our family serve you with our whole lives?” Cross-cultural work was not something we had ever considered or felt drawn to but it was obvious to Gary as he sat in the Dorigo’s home and listened to them sing and worship in an unfamiliar language, that God loved and was at work in this city.
The two years after Gary’s trip were filled with classes, conversations, applications, and trainings that lead our hearts more and more toward a desire to serve in places in the world where there was little access to the Gospel. We began to realize that, as believers, our presence in these spiritually void places truly matter. God has continued to confirm and open all the doors for us to serve in Italy. We believe it is Him who draws people to Himself and we are excited to be joining Him here. We are extremely grateful for how gracious He has been in this transition over the past two years. We ask for prayer for continued progress and growth in language and for this next season as we step out of full-time language and cultural learning and into ministry roles.
