Philippians: The Pursuit of Joy - Part 1
Which would you choose? Option A - A comfortable life that goes according to all of your plans. or Option B - A deep sense of contentment and joy in life. In part one of our series, we see from the apostle Paul's letter to the Philippians that Option A doesn't necessarily lead to option B... In fact, there are times when these two options are at odd with one another. We seek joy, but true and lasting join is found only through seeing and savoring Jesus Christ.
Here's the video that was played at the beginning of the message...

Additional Resources
Gospel-Centered Marriage and Family
In part 8 of our Gospel-Centered series, we explore how the gospel guides and shapes our marriages and families. Focused on Ephesians 5, Paul calls marriage a profound mystery that was meant from the very beginning to display Christ and the church.
Gospel-Centered Money and Generosity
Jesus talks about money more than any other topic. The question is, why? Jesus doesn't need our money, he's pursuing our hearts. Jesus knows that there is a connection between our wallets and our hearts (Luke 12:34). Jesus wants to free us from the grip of greed and fear, in order for us to live lives of joy and generosity.
Luke 12:11-34
Gospel-Centered Calling and Work
Part 6 of our Gospel-Centered Series. In the gospel, we have the freedom to live a life Soli Deo Gloria - to the glory of God Alone. Every moment of every day matters to God. Through our work and callings we love God, love people, and are discipled.
Gospel-Centered Multiplication
As people saved by, and shaped by the gospel, we are then sent by gospel. Jesus has given us the Holy Spirit to empower us as witnesses. We need to embrace a missionary mindset as we engage a dark world with the light of the gospel.
Here's the book Pastor Mark mentioned at the beginning of the message:
Gospel-Centered Sanctification
Apart from grace-driven effort, we will not grow in our sanctification and our Joy in the Lord will be suppressed.
Video of prayer from the book The Valley of Vision, Pastor Mark shared at the end of the sermon.
Gospel Communities
We were made to do life together in community. God’s people are sustained and sanctified in the context of authentic community.
Gospel-Centered Worship
We were made to worship... but our hearts are easily led astray. We are thirsty for worship, but we seek to quench our thirst so often with the wrong things. The gospel helps realign our worship toward Jesus, the fountain of Living Water.
What is the Gospel?
In Part 1 of our Gospel-Centered sermon series, we seek gospel clarity by examining the question: What is the Gospel?
